Why Use Handcrafted Soap? If you are using commercially-produced soap, heed this warning: using River Bar Soaps may allure you into taking longer showers and enjoying them more! The soft, creamy lather of handcrafted soap makes a body feel good. The scientific side of this is that glycerin, a natural by-product of the soapmaking process, remains intact in handcrafted soap, but is usually removed from mass-produced soaps. Glycerin acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture to our largest organ -- the skin. This is good, don't you think? You may spend a little more on handcrafted soap, but you will spend less on lotions and potions needed to counteract the effects of no-glycerin, detergent-laden soap.
